In taking pictures of my latest work i noticed that when they were hung up where the sun could shine through them some interesting effects came about…
I decided to make a little project as a present for the little lady while she was out of town using this as the generative idea.
its a secret quilt that only reveals when held up to the light.
here is a picture of it on the floor:

I have been sewing on my HQ Fusion long arm machine for a few weeks now and love every moment of it.
It arrived in a daunting 9 box spread and took a bit of engineering to get together, but now that its up I have had not a single bit of trouble with it.

I am loving how much faster I can sew and what amount of detail i can bring into my work.

Here are a few shots i found from the process of making those super sweet jeans:

i really liked what happened fixing the hole on the back passenger side of the jeans so I moved the pocket down below so the orange was still visible.

I like having a low pocket.
It means that I dont have to sit on whatever I store down there.
[i also like the fix for the pockets so i dont drop what I put in the pockets. [like my phone when I am talking on the headset... like three times per call]]

A little note I wrote after a visit to Chicago a few years ago.
I just found it.
it’s not a Quilt, but i thought it worth sharing:
“Those are not gun shots”
“…What?”
“Those are fireworks”
And so my fear was revealed to me.
My universal trust in safety acted like a double paned window to a storm; the colors and muted sounds permeate, but the storm is no longer real. At times I step out onto a porch to experience the force of nature, a testament to the layers of personal protection afforded us by years and years out of the weather and without hunger. Dry towels and tea await my back turned to the unknown.
I had stopped in my steps to look in the direction of the sound.

As a quilter it seems to me that I should not have to walk around with holes in all my pants.
somehow all my jeans decided to have their knees bust out at the same time. some I have had for 5plus years and some for a matter of months. dunno what that’s all about.
I took a whole day and made patches for them. some more interesting than others.
here is one pair that took quite a makeover.
I’ll make you some if you want.

I have been wrangling a flag over the past few weeks.
I wanted to unvail it in its doneness but since the timing is so right.
thought i would post a teaser to show what the process has been:
I think its important to note my car for scaler dimension.
[I realize the travesty of laying a flag on the ground, but this flag is far too large to be measured or seen on any floor or surface I know of. it's 20 feet by 30 feet. It was purchased at the goodwill bins and salvaged from being turned into scraps. i think making a flag out of it is a better fate and the few moments on the ground will be made up for as its displayed with pride across the country in all the best museums...[hint hint hint]]

thought it may be good to share my thoughts on my role in quilting:
It has been my self appointed task to take quilting under my arm and knock on the doors of the worlds museums and art galleries. I have been working over the past few years to understand the lore and history of the media I tout to the world. I’ve shown quilts nationally for years and only now am I turning to traditional patterning and the ripe history of quilting past. I’m continually fueled by the community of quilters world wide who are so supportive and willing to share their years of experience and knowledge base from a life of oral history and countless hours of practice….
